CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
NO.2017-14
TO: Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council
FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager
Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel
DATE: September 26, 2017
SUBJECT: Addition of two (2) sites to Decatur Public Building Commission (PBC)
and The County of Macon, Illinois (County) Multiple Facilities Lease
Agreement(Lease)
On the Agenda tonight is a request by the PBC that the City approve the addition of two
(2) sites (2405 N. Woodford and Macon County Stock Pile No. 4) to the Lease. The sites are
owned by the County and not utilized by the City.
The City Council must approve the addition of these two (2) sites to the Lease pursuant to
state statute. Specifically, 50 ILCS 20/14(a)(1)requires that the City Council, having adopted the
original resolution creating the PBC, must approve the selection, location, and designation of a
site or sites being acquired by the PBC for the conduct of"executive, legislative and judicial
functions of government."
The PBC is asking the City Council to authorize and approve the addition of the sites to
the Lease. There is no current cost or future cost to the City, nor will the City have any liabilities,
duties or responsibilities for the two (2) sites under the Lease.
Staff recommends approval of the Ordinance. Any questions can be directed to Wendy
Morthland, Corporation Counsel.
