CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
NO. 2017-15
TO: Mayor Moore Wolfe
City Council
FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager
Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel
DATE: November 6, 2017
SUBJECT: Decatur Public Library Sublease with Workforce Investment Solutions
On the Agenda tonight is a request from the Board of Library Trustees of the City of
Decatur and Workforce Investment Solutions that the City consent to an Office Space Sublease
between the two parties.
The City currently has a Lease Agreement with the Library Board of Trustees for the
space located at 130 N. Franklin St. commonly known as the Decatur Public Library. This lease
was effective May 1, 2016. Section 5 of the Lease Agreement provides that "...the Library may
sublease all or a part of the Leased Premises so long as the City provides written consent to such
sublease, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld."
The sublease would provide office space to Workforce Investment Solutions in a portion
of the Library. This Resolution would provide the written consent of the City required in the
Lease with the Library. Staff recommends approval.
