We will also
assemble business establishment data from the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and
Macon County. The consultant will also assemble available inventory data about hotel rooms, hospital
beds and school enrollment from available sources.
The resulting socio-economic dataset will be assembled by TAZ for the base year 2015. Once base year
data is assembled, data summaries in table and map formats will be presented to planning staff at
DUATS,City of Decatur, Macon County, members of the Economic Development Corporation, and other
public and private entities such as the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, school districts, and
utilities for vetting and feedback. Due to the short time horizon for the project,we suggest
disseminating the summary information by email, and then hosting a webinar to review the data and
seek feedback. Webinar participants will have up to one week to provide further feedback by email or
phone.
The consultant will also assemble forecast information for future year 2040 from state, federal and
commercial sources to understand community expectations for future growth During the data summary
and review webinar,we will also seek feedback on public and commercial projections for changes to
population, industrial employment and freight demand.
Based on input generated during the webinar, balanced with the state projections for the area,we will
develop our initial recommendations for growth and changes in population and employment for review
1
