Public Letting Results <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Public Works Department. The project was <br /> advertised Wednesday, April 4, 2018, and bids were opened on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. The <br /> results from the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over/-Under <br /> Burdick Plumbing& Heating Co.,Inc. $2,480,422.00 (6.2%) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $2,645,152.00 ----- <br /> Four contractors took out bid packages and one contractor submitted a bid proposal for the project. <br /> Burdick Plumbing &Heating Co., Inc.provided the only responsive and responsible bid at 6.2% <br /> below the Engineer's Estimate. The bid received is reasonable for the required work and previous <br /> year bids. <br /> Burdick has successfully completed several projects for the City. Staff recommends that the City <br /> Council approve a contract with Burdick Plumbing&Heating Co., Inc. to perform the 2018 <br /> Annual Water Main Replacement Project. <br /> MINORITY PARTICIPATION GOALS: <br /> Contractors for City Projects shall comply with City Code Chapter 28, Article 10, "Minority <br /> Participation Goals for Public Works Contracts." <br /> Contractors for City projects shall make a good faith effort to comply with the following minimum <br /> goals: <br /> 1. Ten (10)percent of the total dollar amount of the contract should be performed by <br /> Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) if subcontracting opportunities are available; and, <br /> 2. Eighteen (18)percent of the total hours worked should be performed by minority workers. <br /> Burdick has provided documentation demonstrating that they will meet the City's 10%MBE <br /> subcontractor goal. <br /> SCHEDULE: <br /> Work on this project is expected to begin in May with a completion date of May 31, 2019. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Funding for this project is allocated in the Water Non Lake Capital Fund which <br /> is supported by water billing fees. The total project cost is $2,480,422. <br /> Staff Impact: The Capital Improvement Plan has allocated staff time for this project. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> — 2 — <br />
