The new storage system will accommodate current data storage
requirements in addition to the expanding digital storage needs of the City's DPD Criminal Investigation Division.
The primary data storage currently in place is on multiple types of hard drives and devices that are at risk for data loss.
BACKGROUND:
The City has standardized on Netech/Presidio to provide IT solutions for both computer hardware and software support. The City
of Decatur has a rapidly evolving environment requiring technology to be at the forefront of many new and existing DPD Criminal
Investigation Division technology which all require expanded storage. City DPD Criminal Investigation services are requiring
more secure and efficient infrastructure to support an ever-increasing amount of storage for video and other digital data.
The City's DPD Criminal Investigation Division's current data storage is on multiple types of hard drives and devices that have an
extremely higher risk of failure. Staff recommends the purchase of an additional storage for the Current Production Netapp
Santricity E Series 2700 located at the Civic Center and a Netapp Santricity 2800 to be located at DPD to provide storage for
existing data, video storage, and future digital data;along with backup and replication. This solution will provide more stable data
storage, with a longer overall life and better preservation of data.
The above proposed solution will meet all City data requirements for the current and foreseeable future. Total cost of this project
is anticipated to be$156,879.23
The 3 quotes and Statement of Work received for this agreement are attached. Staff recommends acceptance of the proposal from
Presidio for a total amount not to exceed$156,879.23.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: NONE
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated
STAFF REFERENCE: James E.Getz Jr.,Chief of Police Shane G.Brandel,Deputy Chief of Police James Edwards,IT Director
P Kay Nuemberger,IT Systems Administrator
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Funds procured through a foundation grant.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
Resolution Resolution Letter
https://decatur.novusagenda.com/AgendaWeb/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=1555 6/4/2018
