Therefore, the City will enter into a three(3)year arrangement with JWF Specialty for workers compensation
TPA services, with option to extend the service agreement for an additional two(2) years.
The cost of the arrangement with JWF Specialty is dependent upon the number of workers compensation
claims incurred. The proposed cost of claim management and processing proposed by JWF Specialty is
consistent with former costs incurred with Gallagher Bassett.
The City has historically incurred workers compensation TPA claim management expense in the range of
$35,000 annually.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS:
None
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
Arthur J. Gallagher and Company
STAFF REFERENCE:
Billy Tyus, Interim City Manager
Gregg D. Zientara, City Treasurer&Director of Finance
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Included in the annual budget of the Risk Management fund of the City of Decatur.
Approval by the Council is desired to properly affect the transfer of all claim activity from Gallagher Bassett
to JWF Specialty in the normal 60-day transfer process, in order to ensure no disruption of workers
compensation services to the City and to the City affected employees. Current TPA agreement expiration
on September 30, 2018, will require the City to commence the transfer process on August 1, 2018.
