r ORDINANCE NO. ��g_� ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE -CHAPTER 41 — -MISCELLANEOUS STREET REGULATIONS— WHEREAS, the City of Decatur recognizes the unique character and impact of limited signage in the B-4 Central Business District; and, WHEREAS, the City of Decatur desires to allow adequate opportunity for free speech in the form of inessages or images displayed on signs, while balancing that interest against public safety and aesthetic concerns impacted by signs; and, WHEREAS,the City of Decatur desires to ensure that the design, location,construction, illumination, installation and maintenance of signs does not interfere with traffic safety, endanger public safety and enhances and protects the aesthetic value of the City by reducing visual clutter that is potentially harmful to property values, economic development and quality of life of the community; and, NOW THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED ORDAINED,BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Chapter 41 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and and same is hereby modified and amended by amending Section 5, so that Section 5 as so modified and amended, shall provide as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto. Section 2. That Chapter 41 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and the same is hereby modified and amended by amending Section 12, so that Section 12 as so modified and amended, shall provide as set forth in Exhibit B attached hereto. Section 3. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to cause the provisions hereof to be appropriately set out in the City Code and to cause the same to be published in pamphlet form according to law.
