City Manager <br /> DATE: 11/19/2018 <br /> MEMO: <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore-Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Billy Tyus,Interim City Manager <br /> Raymond Lai,Director of Economic and Community Development <br /> Tim Dudley,Development and Revitalization Specialist <br /> SUBJECT: State of Illinois Grant to Mueller Company for Infi-astnzcture Improvements. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staffrecommends approval of the attached agreement allowing for reimbursement of <br /> project costs to Mueller Company for redevelopment expenses from State of Illinois funding. <br /> BACKGROUND: Earlier tivs year Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe in partnership with the Greater Decahu Chamber of Commerce <br /> and The Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County made a request to Senators Andy Manar and <br /> Chapin Rose to request funding to support a planned expansion of Mueller Cornpany. In response to the request,the senators <br /> were instrumental in helping the City to obtain a commitment to provide$500,000 as part of this year's state budget. The <br /> developer plans to invest at least$5 million in its Eldorado St. facility over the ne�ct two years and because the company has <br /> chosen to e�and in Decatur it will retain at least 400 jobs in our community and increase local payroll over the current level.
