Staff recomtnends that the City Council approvc the attached resolution authorizing <br /> the City Ma�ger to execute a Purchase Order in the ar�unt nf$23,$06 to Presidio Networked Solutions Graup{forrr�erly <br /> Netech)ta renew the Annual Enterprise Vrtual Server VMware Soflware Maintenance. <br /> BACKGROUND; <br /> The City has standardized on a CISCO Vntual Server hardware platform running VMware software to provide a virival <br /> application server architecture ta deliver saftware applications to City affices throughout the City. This server strategy pravides <br /> the most fle�cible and cost-effective application delivery method allowing haxdware resources to be matched to tye software <br /> application needs without wasting available resaurces. <br /> Presidio(farmerly Netech)installed this solution and has been providing maintenance services on it since this platform was <br /> purchased in 2414. The City Cauncil has never seen these mainte�nce renewals in the past because these services were spread <br /> across sevcral different invoices,coming due at different times of year,and none individually wherc over$20,000 annually. In an <br /> effort to reduce the overail cost of this software rr►aintenance and make it easier to manage,I asked Presidio to make all <br /> maintenance for VMware coterminous{come due at the sat�tirne). This effort will save the City af Decatur abaut$6,438.22 in <br /> on-going annual expenses. <br /> Renewal of this rrLairrtenance entitles the City to receive elcpert software suppart for the VMware soflware platforrn,around the <br /> clock technical support frorn software en�ineers,and angoing software updates.
