William St. SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recammends approval af the follawing resolutions appraving demaiitians with Steve's Trucking,Ine. far$36,448 for the dernolition af 965 East Main Street,Anderson Backhoe Service,Inc. far$33,925 for the demolition af 954 South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive,Hutchins Excavating for$23,960 for the de�litian of 1 b4b East Prairie arui JRH Services Inc.far$33,868 far the demolition of 1850 East Wiiliam Street. BACKGROUND: The four subject dwellings are a�ng the tweive that are targeted ta be demolished in the near future and,if the resalutians are approved,it would mean that there are a total of 28 structures either under cantract ar that have been torn down in recent weeks. The agreernent are presented for your con�ideration as each exceeds the$24,QOQ cost threshold warranting City Council review The resolutions would authorize the agreernents between the City and the following cantractors: • Steve's Trucking,Inc. far$36,448 for the demalitian af 965 East Main Street{de�litian cost is$8,948 and asbestos removal costs are$27,500); • Anderson Backhoe Service,Inc,for$33,925 for the demoiition of 954 Sauth Martin Luther King Jr. Drive {demolition cost is$9,625 and asbestas remaval is$24,30Q); • Hutchins Excavating for$23,960 far the dernolition of 1646 East Prairie(demalition cast is$6,960 and asbestos removal is �17,000);aaul • JRH Services Inc. for$33,868 for the dernolition of 1850 East William Street(demolitian cost is$11,160 and asbestos remavai is$22,74$}. There l�ave been questions about our reasoning far selecting the properties now being pursued for demolished.The selected properties are a�ng a grouping cansidered ta be"tl�warst of the worst"regardless of locatian and that needed ta come dawn first. While the pursuit of future demolitions can be mare strategic in nature,e�erts dealing with similar issues in ather co�nnuniries also have concurred with this practice.
