Item Coversheet 4/12/2019 9:30:06 AM <br /> � <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 4/5/2019 <br /> MEMO: 2019-20 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Matthew C.Newell,P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> Deborah M.Perry,Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Rescinding Resolution No.R2019-17 Accepting the Bid Price of Bob Ridings,Inc.for the Purchase <br /> of One(1)2019 Dodge Pickup Truck <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve, that the Mayor be authorized to sign, and the City Clerk to attest the <br /> following Resolutions. <br /> • Resolution Rescinding Resolution No. R2019-17 accepting the bid price of Bob Ridings, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) <br /> 2019 Dodge pickup truck. <br /> • Resolution accepting the State of Illinois bid price of Morrow Brother's Ford, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) 2019 Ford <br /> pickup truck. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The City of Decatur Fire Department has requested one(1)new crew cab pickup truck to replace one(1)2008 Chevrolet van with <br /> 94,881 miles. <br /> The 2008 Chevrolet van is being replaced due to its age and condition. The normal life expectancy is ten(10)years. <br /> The replacement vehicle is estimated to be delivered in 90 days. <br /> Rejection of Vehicle Bid <br /> Several weeks after awarding the bid for a 2019 Dodge pickup to Bob Ridings of Taylorville, the City was informed by Ridings <br /> that the truck manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler, had determined that there were insufficient orders nationwide to make the specified <br /> truck, and they were cancelling production. They proposed an alternative truck that did not meet the city's bid specifications. <br /> Ridings was informed that if they could not provide the vehicle specified in their original proposal,their bid would be rejected and <br /> the second low bid proposed for award. <br /> Morrow Brothers was contacted, and they agreed to provide their proposed vehicle at their offered bid price. <br /> DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNITS: The vehicle to be replaced will be sold or auctioned. <br /> OTHER BIDDERS: None. <br /> LEGAL REVIEW: There are no contracts for Legal to review. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
