Irons, Neighborhood Services Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing funds for Neighborhood Safety, Cleanup and <br /> Activities <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends authorization to spend up to $33,000 for Neighborhood Safety, Cleanup <br /> and Activities. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The City of Decatur reallocated funding from neighborhood gants and remaining funds from <br /> hosting the Regional Neighborhood Network Conference (RNNC) to fund neighborhood <br /> activities including: RNNC expenses, Nationa.l Night Out, and the annual City-wide <br /> Cleanups. That funding has now diminished to less than$3,000. The 2019 budget did not <br /> include allocating funds to pay for e�enses associated with those line items. Efforts by <br /> management to restrict spending have resulted in sufficient savings to reallocate funding to <br /> this element of neighborhood revitalization. It is recommended that the e��tra expenditure be <br /> authorized. <br /> For the last several years, the City of Decatur has hosted 4 cleanups per year. The events <br /> have grown in participation. In 2018, 1,514 tires were collected along with 289,440 pounds <br /> of trash. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Should the City Council have any questions, they ma.y contact <br /> Richelle D.
