Newell,P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of 1940 North Brush College Road for the <br /> Improvement of Brush College Road over Faries Parkway and the Norfolk <br /> Southern Railroad Tracks, <br /> City Project 2009-33 <br /> Section 09-00933-01-BR <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached Resolutions authorizing the Mayor, <br /> City Manager, or an authorized designee,to sign the documents related to the purchase of the <br /> following properties to provide right of way for the improvement of Brush College Road over Faries <br /> Parkway and the Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks. <br /> 1. Resolution authorizing the purchase of 1940 North Brush College Road for$250,000 in State <br /> Motor Fuel Tax funds which includes $200,000 for purchase of the property and $50,000 for <br /> anticipated relocation reimbursement. <br /> 2. Resolution authorizing the purchase of 3925 East Faries Parkway for$194,600 in State Motor <br /> Fuel Tax funds which includes $164,600 for purchase of the property and$30,000 for <br /> anticipated relocation reimbursement. <br /> 3. Resolution authorizing the purchase of the vacant lot immediately to the west of 3925 East <br /> Faries Parkway for$5,400 in State Motor Fuel Tax funds. This property is a parking lot so no <br /> relocation benefits can be claimed. <br /> These funds will be reimbursed at 100%by a State of Illinois Jobs Now! grant. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> See Appendix A for prior Council action on this item. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On August 7, 2017,the City entered into an agreement with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT) <br /> to perform land acquisition services for the Brush College Road Improvement Project using Illinois <br /> Jobs Now! funds provided by the State of Illinois. On June 5, 2018,the City received the <br /> announcement of the award of a$25 million grant through the Illinois Competitive Freight Program <br /> for the Brush College/Faries Parkway Grade Separation Project. <br /> � 1 � <br />
