PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO.2019— 187 <br /> DATE: October 28,2019 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Matt Newell,P.E., Publac Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of a Stop Sign at the Intersection of <br /> North Graceland Avenue and West Taft Street Facing West Taft Street. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of a stop <br /> sign at the intersection of North Graceland Avenue and West Taft Street facing West Taft Street. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> There have been no prior Council actions. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> September 26,2019—Traffic & Parking Commission approved a request from City staff <br /> recommending that a stop sign be installed at the intersection of North Graceland Avenue and <br /> West Taft Street with the stop signs facing West Taft Street. <br /> The intersection is a three-legged intersection where traffic on Taft is required to yield to traffic <br /> on Graceland. Sight lines are obstructed by vegetation and utility poles on the corners and extra <br /> care should be exercised by motorists. <br /> The Traffic and Parking Commission's minutes with the recommendation are attached for <br /> Council's review. <br /> SCHEDULE: Stop signs are typically installed within 14 days of approval. <br /> BUDGET AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Budgetary impacts are approximately$200 for the installation of the requested <br /> signs and pavement markings. <br /> Staffing Impact: Approximately 1 hours of staff time to make and install the signs. <br /> PpTENTIAL OBJECTION: No objections are anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> Page � 1 <br />
