CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
NO. 2019-15
November 14, 2019
TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council
FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager
Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel
SUBJECT: Agreement
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: On the agenda is a Resolution authorizing the sale of
the southeast portion of the library's parking lot adjacent to Novel Ideas. This portion was part
of the greenspace in the design approved by City Council earlier this year. The owner of Novel
Ideas approached the City and was interested in expanding their parking lot and requested to
purchase it. The City Council gave preliminary approval at the last executive session.
The Agreement provides for a purchase price of $30,000. In addition, the owner will
replat their current lot and this lot into one lot as well as repave and stripe the purchased lot. The
City will reserve a permanent sanitary sewer easement. The rest of the space north of the Novel
Ideas building and the parcel proposed for sale will be converted into greenspace.
City staff recommends approval.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated at this time.
STAFF REFERENCES: Scot Wrighton, City Manager, at 424-2801
Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel, at424-2807
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None.
