storage needs over the next few years, but this purchase will be made later in 2020. The
additional storage cost was placed in the 2020 budget.
Both the purchase of BWC equipment and electronic storage has been placed in the 2020 budget.
The 2019 budget also had monies budgeted towards the possible initial implementation of body
cameras in 2019.
The rollout will begin with the replacement of the dated in-car camera systems which we hope to
start in 2019. Once the new high definition in-car camera systems are placed in the squad cars,
we will then begin rolling out the body camera's to officers in a manageable and controlled
number. We believe the complete implementation and roll out will be completed within 6
months after the beginning date.
In the future, we expect to have increased FOIA requests but until we have a better idea of what
that may look like we have not added any additional FOIA personnel to our budget. We currently
have two part time FOIA Officers and could envision hiring one more part time person if the
FOIA requests increase substantially.
It is recommended for the state of efficiency, officer safety and transparency the City Council
approve this request for expenditure.
