CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2021- <br /> May 28, 2021 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel <br /> Amy Waks, Assistant Corporation Counsel <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to Chapter 52—Alcoholic Liquor <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Staff,on behalf of the Liquor Control Commissioner,requests that Council <br /> pass the proposed ordinance amendments regarding Chapter 52, Section 4 related to Class K,L and O <br /> license classifications and Section 17 related to Hours. <br /> Staff has received requests from business owners to allow for the incidental sale of alcoholic liquor in <br /> their retail establishments. Further, staff has received a request to allow for distilleries similarly to <br /> brewpubs. Staff is also requesting that Council amend hours for sales of alcoholic liquor on Sundays <br /> to the same hours as other days to be more competitive with surrounding communities which allow <br /> for earlier sales on Sundays. <br /> These requested amendments are in expectation of a future request of a more broad amendment the <br /> license classifications. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known or expected objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Patrick McDaniel,Decatur Liquor Control Commissioner <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Amy Waks,Assistant Corporation Counsel, at 424-2807. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None <br />
