Resolution in the amount of$126,477.68 to Rush Truck Centers for one(1)2022 International HV507 SFA 6x4
tandem axle dump truck for the Water Distribution Services Division.
BACKGROUND:
The Municipal Services Division and Water Services Division have requested four(4)new vehicles to replace(4)existing dump
trucks. The vehicles being replaced are:
1) #2812005 International Model 7400 with 8,297 Hours(Municipal Services)
2) #284 2005 International Model 7400 with 7,095 Hours(Municipal Services)
3) #2212001 International Model 4900 with 7,726 Hours(Municipal Services)
4) #127 2001 International Model 4900 with 8,422 Hours(Water Services)
A normal life span for trucks to be changed out is at about 6,000 hours. These are the oldest dump trucks in the fleet. The
replacement vehicles are estimated to be delivered in 180 days.
The bid amount includes the cost of the vehicles along with the equipment required for up fitting dump bodies and accessories on
the trucks. This includes upgrading the fuel tanks, oil pans and dump beds to stainless-steel to increase their longevity. Stainless
steel dump beds should enable them to be reused for a couple of generations of trucks. Fleet Maintenance has found that oil pans
and fuel tanks on dump trucks have increased problems with deterioration and corrosion which requires them to be replaced
prematurely. Using stainless-steel oil pans and fuel tanks should last the full life of the truck.
DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNITS:The vehicles are being replaced due to their advanced hours of use and their condition.
The old units will be auctioned.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None.
