City Manager DATE: 7/12/2021 MEMO: 21-22 TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members FROM: Scott Wrighton, City Manager John Williams,Mass Transit Administrator Lacie Elzy, Grants and Procurement Manager SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FOUR PARATRANSIT VEHICLES FROM MIDWEST TRANSIT EQUIPMENT INC. FROM STATE CONTRACT SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends this item be approved as presented. BACKGROUND: Decatur Public Transit currently has a fleet of vehicles that are utilize primarily to operate a provided service in the community to individuals with disabilities as well as mobility restrained seniors. The Operations Uplift program provides ADA door to door services to individuals who are not afforded the opportunity,based on their disability,to ride the regular fixed route system. The ADA stipulates that public transit systems MUST provide this ADA service. Currently,there are paratransit vehicles in the fleet which have exceeded their useful life. All of the vehicles that are being considered for replacement have become inefficient,due to age and growing costs to maintain. These items will be funded through the 5307 Federal Transit Administration Capital funds.
