Police Department <br /> DATE: 7/20/2021 <br /> MEMO: 21-26 <br /> TO: The Honorable,Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Shane Brandel,Interim Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Rifle Purchase <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of staff to authorize the execution of a purchase order with <br /> Ray O'Herron,Inc. for the purchase of 21 short-barreled rifles and accessories. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department Emergency Response Team(ERT)has identified the need and value of <br /> purchasing short-barreled rifles for use by the Decatur Police Department Emergency Response Team This purchase will allow <br /> for a weapons system that is universal for all ERT members. This also allows for consistency in training and use,and universal <br /> equipment knowledge by the team members. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Shane G.
