............. <br /> DECATUR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> 2021-11 <br /> DATE: October 4, 2021 <br /> MEMO: 2021-11 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Jeff Abbott, Fire Chief <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of eighteen(18) Opticom GPS Intersection <br /> Radio Units and accessories from Traffic Control Corporation for Emergency Vehicle <br /> Preemption Systems. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that City Council approve the attached Resolution authorizing the Mayor and <br /> City Clerk to purchase 18 Opticom devices from Traffic Control Corporation located in <br /> Woodridge, Illinois. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The fire department began using Opticom Traffic Preemption Systems in 2019 at select <br /> intersections around the City. The department had more devices installed in 2020 to bring the <br /> number of intersections controlled by Opticom to 19. The goal, as stated in the 2020 budget, was <br /> to have the devices installed at 50 intersections. Once this purchase, and installation, is <br /> complete,there will be 37 intersections with Opticom. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolution request. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Jeff Abbott,Fire Chief, Jim Ohl, Deputy Fire Chief <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Jeff Abbott,Fire Chief <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Funding included in the 2021 budget. <br />
