the ramps and interiors are failing. The interior of the vehicles are worn, including the driver's seat and
floorboards being in disrepair. With the current supply chain issues, it is getting harder to get in the parts
necessary to keep these vehicles in good repair. The 2 vehicles had a combined repair amount $3,792.19 from
July 1, 2021-December 31, 2021. And these vehicles will be past their useful life expectancies at the time the
new replacement buses will arrive.
A. Make sure to address the following topics:
• Describe the transportation program and needs of individuals in your current/proposed service area.
• If you are proposing new or expanded service, identify how these needs are currently not being met.
• Explain how the current transportation program will change if this grant is not approved.
• Describe how transportation services support, buttress, and enable your agency's overall mission.
The City of Decatur provides essential and affordable transit services through Decatur Public Transit
System. Our mission is to provide equity through affordable and reliable transportation. We service the
City of Decatur and surrounding towns within Macon County, IL. We operate a fleet of 23 fixed route
buses and 4 paratransit buses (MDcutaways). Decatur's taxi service went out of business in the 2020
pandemic. We are returning to prepandemic operations and on-demand service is needed. Our residents
use Uber/Lyft services when requiring on demand, off-route transportation. These services cost a
minimum wage employee approx. 2 hours of paid work just for transportation to and from said work. The
City of Decatur proposes to bridge this gap in services by providing equity to our citizens through
affordable on demand microtransit services. We are requesting eight (8) minivans to launch our
microtransit service. Although microtransit is not a taxi service, it will provide affordable and flexible
transportation options for our residents and begin bridging this gap in services.
We use MV, Transportation for our operations contract. They have provided in house pre and post
inspections that are used for other microtransit services in the US. We utilize Trapeze Mobility-on-
Printed 04/08/22 Page 8 of 17 TR CVP01 (Rev.03/07/22)
