RESOLUTION NO. R7-02X-SI <br /> RESOLUTION NAMING CERTAIN CITY-OWNED PROPERTY IN THE <br /> CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS,Preston Jackson is a Decatur native,raised and educated in Decatur,who has <br /> distinguished himself as a talented artist and creator of sculpture and other public art; and <br /> WHEREAS, original artwork created by Preston Jackson for Decatur has been on display <br /> in downtown Decatur for several years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the property described herein has not been formally named in the past; <br /> NOW THEREFORE,IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1: City-owned property in the Decatur Central Business District described"All of <br /> that part of Lots One (1) through Thirteen (13) of the Resurvey of Snyder's Addition and Lots 1, <br /> 2 and 3 Block 2 Central Addition as per plat recorded in Book 149 Page 303 of the Records in the <br /> Recorder's Office of Macon County, Illinois, bounded on the North by East North Street, on the <br /> East by North Water Street, on the South by East William Street, and on the West by the Alley <br /> between North Water and North Main Streets"is hereby designated as"Preston Jackson Park." <br /> Section 2: The city of Decatur reserves the right to re-purpose all or a portion of Preston <br /> Jackson Park for alternative economic development uses if, in the opinion of the City Council, <br /> such a change advances the community and economic development objectives of the city.
