MEMORANDUM 2022-22
DATE: June 16, 2022
TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council
FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manger
Jon Kindseth,Deputy City Manger
SUBJECT: Resolutions Authorizing a Renewal Agreement with Live Stories for FORWARD
Platform known as AccessDecatur
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends City Council authorize the renewal agreement with Live Stories to continue
the platform known as AccessDecatur providing a centralized single place portal of all the
benefits available for both businesses and residents.
BACKGROUND:
The AccessDecatur portal was created to centralize not only the new grants and programs
available to our community during the last two years of COVID; the City provided millions of
dollars of relief to our community. We did not stop with just creating this portal experience for
new programs, but to also bring in our existing benefit programs so that it may be a streamlined
experience for our residents and/or businesses.
With this new portal a person or business can complete a single login and application and receive
assistance from multiple grant programs. When a person or entity builds out their profile details,
the portal has the ability to notify programs and benefits for which a person or entity are eligible
for; saving time and efforts on both the applicants side and the staff side. The programs and
benefits will likely change over time, and an AccessDecatur FORWARD profile will ensure that
our constituents are have a continually updated and streamlined process.
In addition to being a mobile friendly easy to use portal, there is also backend reporting and
capacity added to City staff who administer these programs. For example, this portal has a
multilingual call center that can assist you with questions about the different grants and loan
programs, as well as support with the applications. We have had positive feedback and strong
interest in AccessDecatur portal since we rolled it out last year.
STAFF REFERENCE: City Manager, Scot Wrighton or Jon Kindseth can address any
questions related to this agreement.
