1025 N. Water St.
Decatur, IL 62523
Phone: (217) 791-8084
4@A
Fax: (844) 607-7523
division of ChfldaCenter www.childlstcenter.org o
Macon County HEALS, a program of the Child 1 st Center, is currently working with
children, youth and their families impacted by violence in Macon County. This is being
done through collaboration with other community organizations, making connections
to available resources and engaging those affected by trauma with services to
facilitate healing.
In an attempt to further the healing in our community we are adding a Crisis Response
program to our services. Through this program, trained staff will be connected with
families directly following their traumatic experience to offer immediate support, build
connections and ultimately help victims and their families begin the healing process as
soon as possible.
Program Goals
- Increased protection through safe sheltering
- Through the use of client assistance funds, we can provide short term,
emergency shelter for individuals/families immediately following violent
crime when returning home is not a viable, safe option
- After engaging in Crisis Response services, the family/individual will be
transitioned to a HEALS Case Manager who will offer continued support
which could include support with relocating if that is a goal that has been
established.
- Increased safety plan development and adherence
- The Crisis Response worker can help make connections to other family
members as well as local shelters or service providers (i.e. Dove) if
deemed necessary.
- The Crisis Response worker can help obtaining necessary items for a safety
plan (extra clothing etc.) and help make appropriate accommodations
to create a safety plan (i.e. plans for family pets)
- Increased sense of support, empowerment, knowledge of personal rights,
regained power, and regained control
- One of the primary responsibilities of the Crisis Response worker will be to
follow up with victims and/or their families regarding information about
their rights as well as victim compensation. Not only is this helpful to the
