x-
rr xrrrr`
SHORELINE
TO: Julie Moore Wolfe
Scot Wrighton
As we are trying to make the best decision possible for the safety of our runners, these are some
of the thoughts we have for special precautions for race day Oct 2nd 2022.
Two and maybe three packet pick ups to lesson lines pre-race day. Since we have had two pre-
race pick ups with computer entry we have streamlined this process, over 65 % of our entries are
completely processed before the race with lines less than 15 at any one time. 6ft spacing
possible.
rs for the two races a SK and a
15K last year was
Race Day itself: We expect 500 to 800 runners Y
just a little over 600 entrants so we will use a number of 300 per race and 150 volunteers.
Two mass starts this year, ample room for spreading out but racing will group up at times. We
will need Rt 36 blocked on one lane to let runners safely use this stretch of road, (very south lane
where pathway is.)
As far as the finish line and after party goes.
Medals would be handed out as individuals cross the finish line, Gloves worn by volunteers.
Race awards for finishing times would be passed out for certified finishers, with our race timing
(Its Race Time) we can do this with some efficiency as times are instantly processed. Lines and
distancing can be achieved.
WE would be having a after party this year under these conditions. As finishers receive their
finish medals, they would then be directed to simple food distribution, apples bananas chili and
water and then directed to open sitting in the pavilion and the surrounding park.
We would need to work with HSHS St Mary's,Decatur Park District, Decatur Police
Department on this plan.
This plan goes of course with porta potties, hand sanitation stations and masks being offered but
not required.
Shoreline Classic would be running its 33`d. year in this community. The race has become a
central Illinois event and is a diverse event inviting walkers to Olympic qualifiers over the past
years. We have supported many charities over the years but first and foremost is high school
athletics and our auxiliary police department
This is a brief overview and there is so much more in consideration of everyone's safety
involved.
