SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> SECTION 352: SOIL—CEMENT BASE COURSE <br /> 352.01 Description. Add the following to this Article: <br /> "The reconstruction work and the order in which it is conducted will be as follows: <br /> 1 Pulverizing and tilling the existing street surface and its base material to the required <br /> O g g g q ed <br /> depth than compacting and removing excess material from the street to achieve final <br /> grade (Pay Item(s): Pulverize Shape And Compact, Earth Excavation). <br /> ' (2) Construction of the soil — cement base course (Pay Items: Cement, Processing Soil- <br /> Cement Base Course). <br /> ' (3) Cold mill the stabilized surface to level and provide the proper cross slope to the Soil- <br /> Cement base course prior to overlay (Pay Item: Shaping and Grading Roadway). <br /> Each street segment shall be reconstructed from initial pulverizing and tilling to final bituminous <br /> surfacing within 5 working days." <br /> 352.07 Pulverizing. The first sentence of this Article is rewritten as follows: <br /> The street surface and base material shall be scarified, pulverized and mixed together to <br /> the depth of reconstruction prior to being shaped to the proper grade as specified in Article <br /> 352.06 and prior to application of the cement." <br /> 352.13 Protection and Cover. RC-70 or CSS-IH will be used to meet the bituminous material <br /> requirements of this Article. <br /> 352.15 Opening to Traffic. Article 701.17(b)(2) shall be changed to require a curing period of <br /> 36 to 48 hours before the soil-cement base course is opened to traffic. <br /> 352.16 Maintenance. Add the following paragraphs to this Article: <br /> "The Contractor may adjust valve boxes and manholes during their operations to protect <br /> them from damage. Valve boxes or manholes temporarily lowered shall be adequately protected <br /> from material or liquids entering them and from construction operations. The location of all <br /> valve boxes and manholes shall be recorded, in writing, for use in relocating them in the event of <br /> ' an emergency or to adjust to final grade. <br /> The Contractor shall confine their work to the limits designated by the Engineer and <br /> spillover outside of this area shall be avoided. Any corrective work or cleanup caused by <br /> spillover or negligence on the Contractor's part shall be corrected by the Contractor at no cost to <br /> the City. <br /> 13 <br />
