receive an amount equal to one hour's pay at time and one half for each day the officer performs <br /> the duties of a Field Training Officer (FTO) with a probationary employee, or with a non- <br /> probationary employee being retrained at the direction of the Chief of Police in regards to the <br /> patrol function,in excess of 5 consecutive work days if detailed documentation of the performance <br /> is required. It is understood that the one hour's pay at time and one half is in addition to any <br /> overtime pay earned pursuant to other provisions of this contract. No more than one FTO per <br /> probationary or non-probationary officer will be eligible to receive FTO training compensation <br /> pay during any one work/training shift. <br /> Section 10. The City shall offer employees the option of participation in the "cafeteria <br /> plan", currently offered by the City as permitted by Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code. <br /> Participation by an employee shall be on a voluntary basis. Information regarding said plan will <br /> be made available to any officer upon request to the Risk Management Division. <br /> Section 11. Officers recruited from other law enforcement agencies may be paid <br /> starting wages equivalent to their previous law enforcement experience, but not to exceed that of <br /> a DPD Officer with five years on the job. All salary step increases will be based on the <br /> combined total of experience awarded at the time of hire, not to exceed 5 years, and the number <br /> of current consecutive years of service with the police department. All other benefits allowed <br /> under the contract, including longevity pay,will be based on the actual hire date. <br /> Section 12. Officers who recruit a police officer new to the Decatur Police Department <br /> shall be entitled to a recruitment bonus of $1,000 per new officer recruited, upon the recruit <br /> successfully completing the probationary period. Consistent with this Section, the City's Human <br /> Resources Department will establish criteria to identify who is awarded this bonus. <br /> ARTICLE 7 <br /> VACANCIES AND PROMOTIONS <br /> Section 1. Vacancies in the classified police service of the city shall be filled and <br /> promotions in said service made according to the rules of the Civil Service Commission and <br /> applicable provisions of the Civil Service Law for Cities. The City shall notify the Union of any <br /> proposed change in the rules of the Civil Service Commission not less than 30 days prior to the <br /> consideration and adoption of said change by the Commission. <br /> Section 2 (a). The City agrees to notify the Union of any promotional examinations or any <br /> assignment openings, and listed or recommended study materials for such written examination, if <br /> any,not less than 45 calendar days prior to the examination or 10 calendar days prior to the filling <br /> of the assigned position, as the case may be. <br /> (b). The City shall make all assignments based on articulable facts related to officer <br /> performance, experience in the assignment area, work evaluations and seniority. Such facts shall <br /> be articulated to any officer applying for an assignment after the assignment has been made,upon <br /> written or verbal request for same.
