CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM <br /> NO.22-32 <br /> DATE: 11/28/2022 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Cordaryl"Pat"Patrick,Director of Economic&Community Development <br /> David Greenwell,Building Official <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending City Code-Chapter 69,Electrical Code <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the proposed ordinance amendment <br /> regarding Chapter 69,Electrical Code be approved and adopted into City Code. <br /> BACKGROUND: City Code Chapter 69 needed amended to update the city's electrical code <br /> from the 2014 to the 2017 National Electrical Code and to include reference to the updated <br /> Ameren Service Manual. Permit requirements were modified to include alternative energy <br /> installations such as solar,wind turbines and generators. Exceptions to the permit requirements <br /> were revised to further clarify the definition of minor maintenance,while several permit <br /> exceptions were eliminated. A number of service specifications were removed due to their <br /> redundancy with the National Electrical Code. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were <br /> amended to indicate compliance with the current Illinois Acts. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None we are aware of <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The City's Electrical Commission approved of all the <br /> proposed changes at their September 7,2022 meeting. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Should the City Council have any questions,they may contact David <br /> Greenwell at 217-424-2787 or email at dgreenwell(i�,decat iiil.gov. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None. <br />
