City Clerk
DATE: 1/31/2023
MEMO:
TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe
City Council Members
FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager
SUBJECT: Resolution Approving the Transfer of 1421 East Orchard Street,Decatur,Illinois from Woodford Homes,Inc. to
Old King's Orchard Community Center.
BACKGROUND: This item has been on the City Council's agenda before when direct transfer to DOVE was authorized.
Since then,DOVE decided that they cannot operate and manage 1421 East Orchard along with the other transitional property we
are developing for them on East John Street;so the city sought another recipient of the Orchard Street property who would use it
for a charitable purpose in pursuit of the city's community development goals, and preferably for transitional housing. The Macon
County Mental Health Board and OKO Community Center have worked out a way for the latter organization to use the property
for transitional housing. If,at some time in the future,OKO Community Center cannot sustain its operation of the building,it will
be returned to the city.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
Resolution Resolution Letter
