Staff recommends that the GCPF refund the City 100% of the costs to widen the median and
prepare the highway approaches within the City's jurisdiction for renewed pavement markings and
making room for new signals/gates to be installed in the new median, by DREI. The City needs to re-
apply the required pavement markings. The City's work shall meet the minimum requirements of 92
III. Adm. Code 1535.204 and the latest version of the MUTCD.
2. IDOT will pay 100% of the costs to install the railroad interconnect cable and conduit from the junction
box mounted on the outside of the new railroad crossing signal bungalow to the existing traffic signal
controller unit. Maintenance costs are covered by an existing agreement between the City and IDOT.
3. Staff recommends that the GCPF refund the DREI 95% of the costs to design and install the new
automatic flashing light signals with gates (AFLS&G). Staff recommends DREI be responsible for the
remaining 5%, as well as all costs and responsibilities for operation and maintenance of the AFLS&G.
