6/5/23,4:36 PM Item Coversheet <br /> t9 <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 5/30/2023 <br /> MEMO: 2023-57 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Matt Newell,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Payment to the Macon County Highway Department for the Relocation of Water <br /> Mains on South Franklin Street(County Highway 61). <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends approving the attached resolution authorizing the execution of a payment to the Macon County Highway for the <br /> relocation of city water mains along South Franklin Street(County Highway 61)for a cost of$28,524.66. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Macon County Highway Department (MCHD) is currently constructing a storm sewer to improve drainage adjacent to a <br /> section of Franklin Street on the south edge of City limits, see attached location map. The current storm drainage is a large ditch <br /> with road and driveway culverts. The existing drainage system will be replaced with a storm sewer which will improve drainage <br /> and maintenance for the adjoining property owners. <br /> The City's water main was found to be in conflict with the new storm sewer on Devonshire Rd, Oxford Dr, and Hillshire Rd., <br /> requiring the water main to be adjusted below the storm sewer. It was anticipated that the storm sewer will be able to be installed <br /> without relocation of the water main.
