6/5/23,4:35 PM Item Coversheet <br /> in <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 5/30/2023 <br /> MEMO: 2023-53 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Matt Newell,Public Works Director <br /> Jessica Coleman,Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Resolution Accepting Garner-Hoadley Auto Body for the repair of One(1)2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle, <br /> Unit 802. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding the auto body repair estimate in the amount of$26,669.39 to <br /> Garner-Hoadley Auto Body to repair one(1)2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle,Unit 802. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Fleet Maintenance Department has requested the repair of one(1)2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle,Unit 802.This <br /> repair was NOT anticipated in the current city budget,because this vehicle was severely damaged,but not to the extent that staff <br /> believed it should be totaled and replaced. <br /> The repair of the vehicle is estimated to be completed in 60-90 days. <br /> The cost benefit of repair instead of replacement of this vehicle is as follows. <br /> A new police vehicle would cost approximately $60,000 versus less than half that to repair. This Unit (#802) has only <br /> approximately 40,000 miles. The typical lifecycle is to replace similar police vehicles is at least 100,000 miles.
