Enable and equip the Decatur Police Department to increase their violence deterrence <br /> capabilities, especially by strategically deploying new technologies and other police <br /> resources to known high-risk individuals that will not only result in more effective <br /> apprehension, but also enhance prosecutions of persons who commit violent crimes. <br /> Specialized equipment and other resources to advance the objectives of`lever pulling' <br /> and gathering evidence to aid enhanced prosecution of the worst offenders(not already <br /> included in the Police Department's current inventory and not included in the <br /> Department's current budget) include: HD surveillance cameras, purchase and outfitting <br /> of a special surveillance vehicle, specialized training for Berla We vehicle forensics, <br /> specialized Talino forensic computers, upgraded body cameras and associated software, <br /> training on how to extract criminal information from cell phones, and a providing a <br /> contribution to Decatur Crime Stoppers to enable them to increase awards for information <br /> leading to arrest and conviction of violent offenders.
