. ; DECATUR FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM 2023-10 DATE: July 11, 2023 MEMO: 2023-10 TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager Jeff Abbott, Fire Chief SUBJECT: Resolutions authorizing the purchase of twelve (12) Opticom GPS Intersection Radio Units and Accessories from Traffic Control Corporation for Emergency Vehicle Preemption Systems and installation of the devices by Egizii Electric. SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the attached Resolutions authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to purchase 12 Opticom devices from Traffic Control Corporation located in Woodridge, Illinois and authorizing Egizii Electric of Springfield, Illinois to install the devices. BACKGROUND: The fire department began using Opticom Traffic Preemption Systems in 2019 at select intersections around the City. The department has continued to have devices installed at select intersections. The department currently has 37 intersections with the devices installed. The goal in the 2020 budget was to have 50 intersections with the devices. The purchase of these 12 will bring the total to 49 intersections. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolutions request.
