. ; DECATUR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> 2023-10 <br /> DATE: July 11, 2023 <br /> MEMO: 2023-10 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Jeff Abbott, Fire Chief <br /> SUBJECT: Resolutions authorizing the purchase of twelve (12) Opticom GPS Intersection <br /> Radio Units and Accessories from Traffic Control Corporation for Emergency Vehicle <br /> Preemption Systems and installation of the devices by Egizii Electric. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that City Council approve the attached Resolutions authorizing the Mayor and <br /> City Clerk to purchase 12 Opticom devices from Traffic Control Corporation located in <br /> Woodridge, Illinois and authorizing Egizii Electric of Springfield, Illinois to install the devices. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The fire department began using Opticom Traffic Preemption Systems in 2019 at select <br /> intersections around the City. The department has continued to have devices installed at select <br /> intersections. The department currently has 37 intersections with the devices installed. The goal <br /> in the 2020 budget was to have 50 intersections with the devices. The purchase of these 12 will <br /> bring the total to 49 intersections. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolutions request. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Jeff Abbott, Fire Chief and Jim Ohl,Deputy Fire Chief <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Jeff Abbott,Fire Chief <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Funding included in the 2023 budget. <br />
