RESOLUTION NO. R_IL_ (gar_ RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF BODINE PROPOSAL REGARDING CITY FIBER EXTENSION FROM RICHLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO EAST HOSPITALITY LANE WHEREAS, the City owns,manages and maintains a 144-strand fiber infrastructure providing high speed telecommunications to the community; and, WHEREAS, the fiber infrastructure provides reliable communications and connectivity to units of local government, educational facilities, state of Illinois agencies,museums, local businesses and other facilities; and, WHEREAS, the City continues to expand its fiber communications network throughout Decatur in its goal of providing access to all parts of the community; and, WHEREAS, Bodine Electric has been a provider and installer of the fiber infrastructure in the City; and, WHEREAS, there exists a need for additional extensions of the fiber communications network to the northeast quadrant of the City to provide access to locations north of Richland Community College; and, WHEREAS,Bodine Electric is nearing completion of fiber infrastructure work in Decatur and is willing to proceed with the additional extension described above at a discounted rate if it can be started immediately upon the completion of their current project; and, WHEREAS, Bodine Electric is currently able to secure favorable prices on materials needed for the fiber infrastructure extension; and, WHEREAS,the City desires to expedite the installation and extension of the network to the area described above and enter into an agreement for such without putting the work out for bid due to the time constraints and agreement on price with Bodine Electric; and, WHEREAS, it was determined that it was in the best interest of the City to proceed with the attached proposal of Bodine Electric. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS:
