RESOLUTION NO. 2023- RESOLUTION DESIGNATING HONORARY STREET -JEFFERSON & BOOKER JOYNER- WHEREAS, that on August 17, 2009 the City Council initially approved an Honorary Street Sign Program for the City of Decatur; and WHEREAS, on March 2, 2015 said program was amended to better describe and present the honoree in the application process; and WHEREAS, an Honorary Street designation shall be limited to individuals, organizations, entities and events that either had a significant lineage to the City or had a significant cultural, historical, or humanitarian impact on the City; and WHEREAS, an advisory committee reviewed and unanimously recommended approval of an application submitted by the family of the late Jefferson Joyner and Booker Joyner. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR,ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the City Council hereby designates the 1000 block of South Webster Street as Honorary Jefferson & Booker Joyner St., in honor of Jefferson Joyner and Booker Joyner for a period not to exceed ten(10)years from the date of this resolution. Section 2. That the City's sign shop shall be responsible for the cost of the production and installation of the Honorary Street Sign. Section 4.
