1� <br /> Financial Management <br /> DATE: 11/6/2023 <br /> MEMO: <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Ruby F.James,City Treasurer&Chief Financial Officer <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending City Code Chapter 50 Licenses <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> City Administration recommends Council approval of the attached Ordinance Amendment to update City Code Chapter 50 to <br /> charge for background checks for each type of license requiring a background check for a fee not to exceed $50.00 per person or <br /> per vehicle required for the license requested. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On October 2,2023,City Council approved Ordinance 2023-65 updating Chapter 50 to charge for background checks having a fee <br /> not to exceed $50.00. The intention was to charge for each background check that is required for the license, per person or per <br /> vehicle as the ordinance requires. Background checks are required for many of the licenses issued by the City of Decatur and the <br /> City is seeking to be reimbursed for this cost. <br /> Any fees associated with background checks for licensing applications would be charged to the individual(s) applying for the <br /> license application through an amendment to the Chapter 50 City Code. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No known objection. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Ruby F.
