CITY OF DECATUR <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> FOR <br /> CRUSHED STONE AGGREGATE AND STONE <br /> QUALIFICATIONS OF BIDDERS: <br /> The City may make such investigations as it deems necessary to determine the ability <br /> of the bidder to provide the specified material and the bidder shall furnish to the City all <br /> such information and data for this purpose as the City may request. The City reserves <br /> the right to reject any bid if the evidence submitted by, or investigation of, such bidder <br /> fails to satisfy the City that such bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations <br /> of the contract. Conditional bids will not be accepted. <br /> MATERIALS: <br /> Material shall conform to the applicable articles of Section 1004, "COARSE <br /> AGGREGATES" and Section 1005, "STONE AND BROKEN CONCRETE FOR <br /> EROSION PROTECTION, SEDIMENT CONTROL, AND ROCK FILL" of the "Standard <br /> Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction", current addition by the Illinois <br /> Department of Transportation. <br /> Crushed Stone(CA 6, Delivered)shall be crushed stone conforming to the gradation <br /> limits specified for gradation number CA 6. Recycled concrete will not be accepted as <br /> an approved equal for Crushed Stone (CA 6, Delivered). <br /> Crushed Stone(CA 18, Delivered) shall be crushed stone conforming to the gradation <br /> limits specified for gradation number CA 18. <br /> Coarse Aggregate(24nch, Delivered)shall be pit run gravel, gravel, crushed gravel or <br /> crushed stone conforming to the gradation limits specked for CA 1 or an approved <br /> equal by the City's representative requesting the material. The material shall be Class <br /> D quality or better. <br /> Agricultural Ditch Rock(6 to 8 inch, Delivered) and Agricultural Ditch Rock(6 to 8 <br /> inch, Picked-up)shall be material consisting of hard, dense, durable stone, angular in <br /> shape and resistant to weathering. Rounded stone or boulders will not be accepted. <br /> The stone shall have a specific gravity of 2.5 and have its greatest dimension not <br /> greater than 3 times its least dimension. The stone shall have a minimum nominal stone <br /> size of 6 inches and a maximum nominal stone size of 8 inches. Material shall be <br /> subject to the approval of the City's representative requesting the material. <br /> 1 <br />
