in <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 2/23/2024 <br /> MEMO: 2024-40 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Jon Kindseth,Deputy City Manager <br /> Matt Newell,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Decatur and the Macon County <br /> Conservation District for Assistance with Controlled Burning <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution accepting an intergovernmental agreement between the <br /> City of Decatur and the Macon County Conservation District for Assistance with Controlled Burning. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The city uses controlled burning of some city properties,like the Oakley Sediment Basin,to clear and control the growth of <br /> invasive species for land management reasons. Over the years,the Macon County Conservation District has helped the city <br /> manage controlled burns. The last controlled burn at the Oakley Sediment Basin was performed on March 15,2023. <br /> This agreement is an intergovernmental agreement between the city of Decatur and the Macon County Conservation District to <br /> provide for continuing assistance with controlled burns on City properties,primarily the Oakley Sediment Basin,but other sites <br /> too,if and when the need arises. <br /> This agreement has already been adopted by the Conservation District's board.
