TRANSPORTATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br /> No. <br /> October 7, 2024 <br /> TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager <br /> Jon Kindseth, Deputy City Manager <br /> Lacie Elzy, Transportation Services Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Purchasing Order between the City of <br /> Decatur, Illinois and Master's Transportation Inc. For State of Texas Contract#230204, <br /> for One (1)ADA Ford Transit Van and One (1)ADA Pacifica Van. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve <br /> the attached Resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order for(1)Ford Van <br /> and(1) Pacific Van for the Transportation Services Department. <br /> Decatur Public Transit System operates fixed-route and ADA paratransit service. <br /> Currently, the paratransit vehicles in the fleet have exceeded useful life by more than 7 <br /> years. The existing fleet are large cutaways, able to seat 16 people, and require a CDL. <br /> The new vehicles are a Ford Transit Van and a Chrysler Pacifica,ADA compliant, and <br /> with seating for up to 12. These vans do not require a CDL. The new style of vehicle will <br /> allow us to comingle use for paratransit and microtransit operations and will also <br /> encourage a new pool of applicants interested in non CDL vehicle operations. We <br /> purchased(2) of the Ford Transit Vans last year,received this year, and they have been <br /> implemented well. <br /> These items will be funded through the Federal Transit Administration Capital funds in <br /> an amount not to exceed $158,043. <br /> BACKGROUND: City Council approved the purchase of paratransit vehicles in the <br /> 2024 City Budget. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: City staff. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Staff is not aware of objections. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Should the City Council have any questions; they may contact <br /> Lacie Elzy at 217-542-3559 or lelzy(a,decaturil.gov <br />
