As a part of the Redevelopment Agreement, the City will also receive the ability to advertise and promote
public events and public service announcements on any of these signs and potentially on any Robinson
Outdoor signage in the region. The City has paid thousands of dollars for the current Police Department
recruitment campaign. If approved by Council, this advertising will become part of our communication
tools and strategy moving forward.
Neither the Grand/Route 48 or the Mt. Zion Road locations have been the site of excessive traffic
accidents. DPD records indicate that there were 12 accidents in 2022 on the Mt. Zion Road segment and
14 accidents in 2023. None appear to be related to confusion or distraction caused by signage. The same
is true for the West Grand/Route 48 intersection, where ether were 6 accidents in 2022 and 7 accidents in
2023. The city's "Top 15 crash sites" for 2022 and 2023 does not include either of those locations.
STAFF REFERENCE: For any questions, City Council may contact City Manager Scot Wrighton or
Deputy City Manager Jon Kindseth.
