System Components <br /> The vendor shall furnish all components necessary to form a complete outside plant fiber <br /> optic cable system. Components shall include: <br /> a. Fiber Optic Cabling <br /> Bulk fiber optic cabling for the fiber optic network shall be 144 strand, single <br /> mode, 8/125-micron,0.10 aperture 1310 nanometer fiber optic cable in <br /> accordance with the most recent versions of the listed standards,codes and <br /> regulation at the time of installation. The fiber optic cable shall meet the optical <br /> and mechanical performance requirements in accordance with ICEA S-87-640. <br /> b. Fiber Optic Splices and Splice Enclosures <br /> Provide fiber optic cable splices and splicing materials for fusion or mechanical <br /> splice methods at suitable locations along the routes with as few splices as <br /> necessary to minimize attenuation. The splice insertion loss shall be no greater <br /> than 0.3 dB when measured in accordance with TIA 455-78-B using an Optical <br /> Time Domain Reflectometer(OTDR). Splices shall be designed for a return loss <br /> of 40.0 dB maximum when tested in accordance with TIA 455-107A. Each splice <br /> shall be protected by a splice enclosure specifically designed for the splice. <br /> Provide oversized ground boxes suitable for housing and protecting fiber optic <br /> splice enclosures in a neat and orderly fashion. Splice organizers/enclosures shall <br /> allow for a minimum of one meter of fiber for each fiber within the enclosure to <br /> be neatly stored without kinks or twists. Splice organizers shall accommodate <br /> individual strain relief for each splice and allow for future maintenance or <br /> modification without damage to the cable or splices. Provide splice enclosures <br /> and organizer hardware,such as splice trays,protective shelves, and shield bond <br /> connectors in a splice organizer kit. <br /> c. Cable Strand Terminations <br /> Twelve strands (to be determined)of the 144-strand cable are to be spiced to the <br /> existing City fiber plant. at 5 of the six locations and 24 strands of fiber at the <br /> other location.
