ATTACHMENT A <br /> FIBER INSTALL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> SPECIFIC FIBER REQUIREMENTS: <br /> The primary purpose of this specification is to obtain a turnkey solution that provides for <br /> installation of underground fiber optic extensions from existing underground fiber work on <br /> Brush College Road in the City of Decatur(City). Handholes are to be placed at intersections in <br /> at least 500-foot intervals or at least every other block. 100-foot cable loops(coils)of fiber will <br /> be left in each hand hole to provide suitable length to accommodate future fiber splicing for local <br /> area laterals and endpoints to connect buildings and provide the ability to recover from fiber <br /> breaks. <br /> The City fiber network will support no less than 10 gigabit(IEEE 802.3ae)transmission capacity <br /> for data,voice,and video systems per fiber. The City requests that vendor offer a design that <br /> provides an advantageous and highly flexible solution based on the evaluation criteria identified <br /> herein. The City and vendor will agree to a final engineering design. <br /> The Fiber optic network shall consist of 144 strands of single mode fiber. This bid is for fiber <br /> optic infrastructure only.Network electronics to light the fiber will be provided by the City <br /> separately. <br /> 1. Vendor's Responsibilities <br /> The Vendor is responsible for submitting an initial design with its proposal.To complete <br /> the initial design,the City shall conduct initial surveys of any proposed alternate fiber <br /> routes. <br /> a. Engineering and Design <br /> The Vendor shall submit an engineering plan,survey of route(s),deviations from <br /> suggested routes and justification. The vendor shall undertake any required <br /> permitting,notifications, and negotiations for securing right of way when <br /> required. The design shall also include detailed scale schematic drawings <br /> illustrating the planned fiber cable route. <br /> b. Codes <br /> The proposed solution shall comply with all applicable Federal, State,City,or <br /> other regulatory agency codes and regulations relative to communications <br /> equipment and installation requirements. Equipment and installation shall comply <br /> with building codes and fire code rules and regulations. The Bidder shall be <br /> responsible for obtaining all necessary plan checks,permits,and inspections. <br />
