Public Works
DATE: 1/21/2025
MEMO: 2025 - 07
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager
Matt Newell,Director of Public Works
Byron Bowman,Municipal Services Manager
Chris Bergschneider,Fleet Supervisor
SUBJECT:
Resolution Authorizing a Sourcewell Contract for the Purchase of One (1) Grappler Truck
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a Sourcewell contract in the amount of
$251,372.00 to EJ Equipment, to furnish one (1) 2024 Freightliner M2106 Plus Chassis with Palfinger
M13A98/22' Beauroc MPHD Dump Body.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works, Municipal Services Division has requested a new Grappler Truck to replace the existing
Bucket Truck, #437. A review of the ongoing use and need for the old bucket truck in the Forestry Section
indicated that a Grappler Truck would be much more useful in hauling tree debris and 72 hour clean ups. The
cost is generally the same between the two units.
Unit#437 has been selected to be replaced due to its age and condition.
The replacement vehicle is currently in stock and ready to be delivered.
LEGAL REVIEW: There are no contracts for Legal to review.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION:
None
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
Fleet Maintenance wrote the bid specifications based on Municipal Services Division and Forestry Section
needs.
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, Public Works Director, Chris Bergschneider, Fleet Supervisor. Matt
Newell will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions on this item.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Funding for the truck expenditure is provided in the approved FY2025
Budget.
ATTACHMENTS:
