Council Memo Public Works Department No. 2025-95 DATE: 10/6/2025 TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager Matt Newell,Director of Public Works Byron Bowman, Municipal Services Manager SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid Price from Homer Tree Care for Tree Removal Various Locations SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: City Council authorize the execution of a purchase order between the City and Homer Tree Care Inc., for their low bid price of$39,000.00 for Area's 1,2, and 4 tree removal. BACKGROUND: The trees being removed are dead, dying or hazardous trees. See attached map and tree lists for details Bids were sent out by the Purchasing Department on September 10,2025. Six bids were received for each area. Bids were received from Sky's The Limit Tree Service, MC Tree Service, HD Tree Service, Littleton Storm& Timber, Homer Tree Care, Inc., and Oak Bros Tree Care&Removal, LLC. Homer Tree Care Inc., was awarded the bid for Area 3. Oak Bros Tree Care& Removal, LLC was awarded the bids for Areas 1, 2 and 4. The contractor submitted minority requirements. The project will remove 22 trees which are too large or difficult for City crews to effectively remove. Homer Tree Care will be removing the 6 trees listed for Area 3. Oak Bros Tree Care&Removal, LLC will be removing 16 trees listed for Areas 1, 2, and 4. Total accepted bids for the project were$54,000.00. LEGAL REVIEW: There are no legal documents to review. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None foreseen INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell,Public Works Director, Byron Bowman, Municipal Services Manager. Matt will be present at the Council meeting. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: This project is an annual expense in the Land and Building Management Section of the Municipal Services Division operating budget.
