ORDINANCE NO. 2025 -77
<br /> AN ORDINANCE LEVYING PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE CITY OF DECATUR,
<br /> ILLINOIS FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE TO MEET CERTAIN
<br /> NECESSARY EXPENSES OF THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
<br /> JANUARY 1,2026, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2026,
<br /> AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT
<br /> WHEREAS,the City of Decatur,Illinois is a home rule unit of local government as defined
<br /> by, and having the powers enumerated in, the Constitution of the State of Illinois 1970, Article
<br /> VII, Section 6(a); and,
<br /> WHEREAS,the City of Decatur is required to establish the Property Tax Levy for the City
<br /> of Decatur for the year of assessed value with property tax payable in the subsequent year,the City
<br /> hereby with this Ordinance affixes the Property Tax Levy for assessed value in calendar year 2025
<br /> and with tax payable in calendar year 2026.
<br /> NOW, AND THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br /> CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS:
<br /> Section 1. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property within the corporate
<br /> limits of the City of Decatur, Illinois, as the same is taxed and equalized for State and County
<br /> purposes for the fiscal year beginning with the 1St day of January,2026, and ending on the 31st day
<br /> of December, 2026, the sum of Twenty-Seven Million, Nine Hundred Eleven Thousand, Eighty-
<br /> Three Dollars and Seventy-Six Cents ($27,911,083.76) for which said sum is hereby levied and is
<br /> appropriated for purposes specified as follows, and that there is hereby abated upon all taxable
<br /> property within the corporate limits of the City of Decatur, Illinois, the sum of Eleven Million,
<br /> One Hundred Eighty Thousand, Six Hundred Sixty-Nine Dollars and Seventy-Six Cents
<br /> ($11,180,669.76)resulting in a Net Tax Levy of Sixteen Million, Seven Hundred Thirty Thousand,
<br /> Four Hundred Fourteen Dollars and Zero Cents ($16,730,414.00).
