ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br /> No. 2026-16 <br /> March 2, 2026 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council <br /> FROM: Melissa Hon, City Manager <br /> Lacie Elzy, Director of Economic and Community Development <br /> Michael Snearly,Neighborhood Inspections Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Action Regarding Unsafe Structures <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Approval of this resolution authorizes City staff to <br /> initiate court proceedings to pursue demolition of unsafe, abandoned, and blighted structures that <br /> have already been formally declared unfit for habitation. This is a required step to move forward <br /> with court-ordered demolition. Staff recommends approval. <br /> BACKGROUND: The structures included in this resolution have been inspected, determined to <br /> be unsafe, and officially posted as unfit for habitation in accordance with City code. Property <br /> owners were provided notice and an opportunity to correct the violations. <br /> This resolution authorizes staff to proceed with the legal process necessary to seek court-ordered <br /> demolition of eight(8)unsafe and abandoned structures located throughout the City.
