Council Memo
Public Works Department
No. 2026-11
DATE: 3/16/2026
TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members
FROM: Melissa Hon,City Manager
Matt Newell, Director of Public Works
Robert Weil,Water Production Manager
Jennifer Gunter,Watershed & Lake Manager
SUBJECT:
Resolution Authorizing a Sourcewell Contract for the Purchase of One (1) RoboMIDI Mower
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a Sourcewell Contract in the amount of
$110,986.00 to Woody's Municipal Supply Company for(1) Energreen Robo MINI 60 HP Remote mower.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed remote-controlled mower will improve efficiency and safety in mowing of steeply sloped areas
maintained by the Lake Section and Municipal Services. These include Grove Road along Sand Creek, the side
embankments of the Oakley Sediment Basin, the entry to the storage and equipment facility off of Star Route
Rd., steep slopes around the South Water Treatment Plant, the roadway embankment behind the Nelson Park
boat ramps, steep slopes around the William Street Pump station, as well as miscellaneous other steep and
inaccessible slopes around the lake. Some areas cannot be accessed at all with current equipment, so this
equipment will provide a more uniform, attractive appearance. More importantly, it will greatly reduce the
occupational risk of mowing these steep areas with riding mowers.
Municipal Services uses a remote-controlled mower for steep roadside embankments and will benefit from this
purchase.
In the past, remote-controlled mowers have been rented. However, rental companies in our area no longer offer
that equipment. The estimated usage of the equipment would be about 600 hours a year, meaning that the cost
to rent is likely to be more than the cost to own.
LEGAL REVIEW: There are no contracts for Legal to review.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
Lake was able to operate the unit from Woody's Municipal Supply Company on a demonstration basis.
STAFF REFERENCE: Matthew Newell,Public Works Director. Matthew Newell will be in attendance to
answer any questions.
