MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT <br /> I.A.F.F., LOCAL 505 <br /> CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS <br /> This Memorandum of Agreement between Local Union 505, International <br /> Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC and the City of Decatur, Illinois, is signed on <br /> behalf of said Union by the President thereof and on behalf of the City by the City Manager <br /> as follows: <br /> ARTICLE 1 GENERAL <br /> Section 1. The City of Decatur, Illinois, hereinafter referred to as "CITY" and Local <br /> 505, International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC, hereinafter referred to as <br /> "UNION" in order to increase the efficiency of the Fire Department of the City, to maintain <br /> the existing harmonious relationship between the City and those of its employees in the <br /> fire fighting service and to promote the morale, rights, privileges and well-being of said <br /> employees, do enter into this Memorandum of Agreement. <br /> Section 2. The employees of the Fire Department of the City and the individual <br /> members of the Union shall regard themselves as employees of the public and are to be <br /> governed by the highest ideals of honor and integrity in all their public and personal <br /> conduct in order that they may merit the respect and confidence of the public which <br /> employs them and which they serve. <br /> Section 3. The City recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive representative <br /> of the classified fire service employees of the Fire Department of the City with the exception <br /> of the Chief, Deputy Chiefs, and Battalion Chiefs, of said Department for the purpose of <br /> bargaining with respect to wages, hours of duty and working conditions. <br /> ARTICLE 2 PLACES OF RESIDENCE <br /> Section 1. All bargaining unit members shall be required to reside within fifty (50) <br /> miles of the corporate limits of the City of Decatur. Upon original appointment, an <br /> appointee may reside outside said limits but shall be required as a condition of continued <br /> employment to comply with said residency requirement no later than ninety (90) days <br /> after the completion of said appointee's probationary period. <br /> ARTICLE 3 CHECK-OFF <br /> Section 1. Upon written authorization by an employee filed with the Director of <br /> Finance thereof, the City shall deduct from wages or salary of such employee such sum <br /> as is certified by the Treasurer of the Union as initiation fee, assessment, union dues, and <br /> any other mutually agreed authorized deductions, which sums so deducted shall be <br /> accumulated and transferred to the Union Treasurer on or before seven (7) days after the <br /> 3 <br />
